Subject: Complaint Re Longmont Athletic Club
To Whom It May Concern,
I would like to file a complaint about: Longmont
Athletic Club
which is located at 10 Mountain View Av in
Longmont CO 80501.
Which is owned by Jim R. Richardson. The
Wellness Opportunities
Group in Boulder CO is also owned by Mr.
Richardson.
My name is Rufus "Bindu" Wavell
and I live at 9999 THIS,
STREET, Boulder, CO 80301.
I was a member of 24hr Fitness that was at
the same address as
Longmont Athletic Club. Longmont Athletic
Club purchased 24hr
fitness several months ago.
A month or two before the acquisition I canceled
my membership
at 24hr fitness (I had not used the facility
for several months
prior to canceling service.) At that time
I received a
cancelation notice.
Once the charges for 24hr fitness stopped
appearing on my credit
card (July 2002) I threw out the cancelation
notice.
Now for some reason Longmont Athletic club
has been billing me
Since August 2002. I have called on two occasions
and asked for
them to stop billing me and refund the money
they have withdrawn
from my account since I am not nor ever have
I been a member of
their club.
I spoke with a woman at 303-772-4708 today
who said that she
would cancel my account, but she would need
the cancelation notice
(which I don't have anymore) to reverse charges
on my credit card.
Since I never had a membership with Longmont
Athletic Club and
I have never used their facility (while they
owned it). I feel
that this is a very bad business practice.
i.e. I feel that
they are in effect steeling from me and not
willing to return
what they have stolen until I prove that
they didn't have the
right to steal from me! What a crock! Stealing
is stealing!
As a resolution I would like for Longmont
Athletic Club to:
1) Stop charging me
2) Refund the money they have charged to
my card (I will
persue this with the credit card company
and force the
reversal if necessary, but that seems ludicrous.)
3) I would also like a letter from Mr. Richardson
apologizing
for this mistake.
4) Ideally I would like for the Longmont
Athletic Club
to change this policy which I believe is
illegal.
Sincerely,
-- Rufus "Bindu" Wavell
P.S. I just found the following web site
which I also find very
disturbing: http://samartha.net/RANTS/LAC/
